New System for Regulation of Higher Education in India
As a part of Educational reforms, The Cabinet has approved a very important legislation i.e formulation of National Commission of Higher Education and Research (NCHER). It will help in regulation of the higher education in a better way. The new institution will govern the system of higher education in India. However, medical and agriculture education will not be within its jurisdiction. Existing Institutions like UGC, AITEC, NCTE will no more be regulating the higher education after enactment of the above law. The Commission will comprise of one member from each state and the strength of members will be 70.
